Cadency, mark of
Her. A *charge whose purpose was to indicate the status of a son of the family. The eldest son and heir displayed a *label of three points on his father's arms, the next a crescent, the third son a *mullet, the fourth a *martlet, the fifth an *annulet, the sixth a *fleur-de-lys.
